We repair and calibrate all makes of Survey Instruments. Calibration is essential for such high precision instruments in order for them to function correctly. Calibration ensures that survey instruments are tested to a set standard that is both accurate and appropriate for its intended use. It determines the measuring deviation of a measuring instrument so the user can then use it for more accurate readings.

Failure to calibrate survey instruments will result in an increasingly inaccurate reading and degradation of results. Examples of instruments we can repair or calibrate include collimators, lasers, and theodolites.

Theodolites are an excellent example of the importance of calibration. An optical instrument used by land surveyors, they are designed to accurately measure horizontal and vertical angles while plotting potential building sites on vacant land. Like many other precision measuring instruments, they are vulnerable to work hazards such as temperature extremes, excessive vibration, and being dropped or bumped off objects. They require regular calibration which involves confirming the angle measuring accuracies, as well as examining the levelling bubbles and crosshair alignment.

The high accuracy of many survey instruments means that it will not always be obvious to the user that they are reading incorrectly. It is essential that they be calibrated at regular intervals.
